Eastern Kentucky University announced today that the NCAA has approved Samari Mowbray’s waiver and she has been ruled immediately eligible to play.
As a sophomore at Northern Kentucky University, Mowbray appeared in 15 games. She posted six points, six rebounds and one assist against Akron. Mowbray scored two points, had three rebounds and three assists against Kent State.
Mowbray was a four-year letterwinner at Mason high school. She helped lead her team to a 90-14 record during her career and had a runner-up finish in the OHSAA Division 1 State Championship. Mowbray averaged 14.2 points per game and four rebounds per game. She was named District 15 Player of the Year, GMC Defensive Player of the Year and was name an Ohio All-Star.
The Colonels open up the 2019-20 season next Wednesday when in-state rival Northern Kentucky comes to McBrayer Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
